Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, what to prepare?

semalam baru je saya terbaca pasal a request in my comment untuk cerita pasal unimas medic. and the comment was send almost one year ago.. hehe... even i post about this now, it may not be useful for you, Neutron. but it should be useful for budak2 bawah you... yes, you adik2. ^^

ok, let start...

sejarah unimas:
            disebabkan saya x lah rajin mana nk search, so.. nama penuh unimas is Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. and SELALU media cetak or media semasa confuse between UMS(Universiti Malaysia Sabah) and Unimas. well, obviously lain negeri an...

Lokasi Universiti:
           Basically, Unimas ini terletak kat Kota Samarahan. For those yang x tahu, KotaSamarahan is another area not that far from Kuching(if say Kuching, semua org tahu an..an..an? hehe) so it took like 30min to drove there. tp kalau nk jalan kaki tu boleh, tp maybe esok la kot sampai.. hehehe
          Akan tetapi, unimas ni ada satu lagi cabang which is kat Kuching (yeayyy...) so, faculty yg kat kuching ni lah terletaknye fakulti perubatan dan sains kesihatan (FPSK) or Faculty Medicine and Health Sciences. sbb i am studying here (kuching), so i will only talk about my faculty je lah ye... :)

ok, Here we go:
         kat fakulti ni ada 2 course je yang ditawarkan which are: Perubatan and Nursing

First i'll talk about the medic course (as for nursing i x sure sangat)
          this course does not use semester system. they use what we called as block system. 
         course ni will take your 5 years(minimum). why minimum? sbb x kira lagi if you have to repeat any year..
                 but wait, repeat year?
yup! repeat year.. in unimas medic, they don't have those repeat paper/sem
but they have repeat year system
huh, macam payah je bunyi an? well, if belaja sungguh2 and mmg rezeki, insyaAllah... selesai lah proses nk dapat MD within 5 years.

so, intake every year around 200+-. jadi yang sape2 nk merasa real uni live yg ada kat tv tu or mcm kawan2 korang cerita, maybe kurang la sikit dapat rasa mcm tu kat fac ni... sbb student x lah ramai sangat kat sini.. sbb yelah, cover 2 course je an. jadi most probably you wont be able to see new faces everyday... but, nak tgk muka akak ari2 pun x pe.. conferm x muak hahhaa (whatever~)

BUT!
baru2 ni(da lama gak lah) the lecturers decided to put the students from year 1-2 medic dekat Kota Samarahan. maybe will be next year, i am not sure... so dapat lah maybe korang rasa life campus camne.

nk cerita panjang pun i might repeat the same things..

but what to prepare ek?
1st of all, you just have to get ready not to have sem break.. you'll just have the break for major holidays like raya, cny, gawai n hari natal etc.. for depavali, dont be shock.. it is not yet be in the major holiday in sarawak as the indian said to be minority in sarawak here. but this 2 years, they've given holiday for class have indian then you just have to replace the classes lah. and they usually bagitahu sangat last minute.. so just have to bare with the last minute air ticket price... and mmg mahal for big2 holiday like that..

2nd, if siapa yang senang home sick, hmm senang gak if nak balik if duit banyak. tp ! you are lucky that Airasia suka buat promo.. so if you want to have cheap air ticket blk semenanjung rajin2 lah usha airasia.. sometimes it depend on nasib jugak~~ the cheapest i think i go to buy flight ticket RM50+ pegi balik... hmm kira murah lah an? but well, ikut nasib jugak.. but now you are really lucky jugak, coz dah ada Malindo air.. cheapest they can give is rm78 one way..

3rd, belajar bahasa sarawak. well, ini x lah compulsory.. but it surely help in your daily life to deal with patient in the hospital. plus you'll be easily get along with the people there. i'll give you some Oh My Malay Sarawak ^^ (baikkan saya? :P)

      Saya= Kamek (bukan bunyi "kami " tau..dia ada "e" and "k" kat hujung.. make it sound a bit obvious)
      Awak= Kitak (ingat! bukan bunyi "kite" but mesti ada bunyi "a" and "k" kat hujung)
      Tak= Sik
      Ya= Aok
etc. 
if korang perasan, bahasa melayu sarawak ni usually ada "K" kat belakang. but tak semua... if u add all words with "K" at the end, it will sound really awkward :P

for Oh My Iban~~ saya x pandai.. hehe just i know mostly ada huruf "i" kat belakang... mcm.. 
    Makan= Makai
    Pulang= Pulai
etc....

but if you here, and be friend with people here... you can learn a lot more...

Lastly

4th, some of them love ketchup.. don't ask why... they just love it.. like we love sos cili an~ 

and somehow, i love one of them *^^*

So if you ask me whether best x belajar kat sini despite xde cuti sem? 
     My answer is YES~

kat sini, u can learn a lot of things. budaya, makanan, bahasa and how to deal with macam2 jenis patient (yup, yang ni, hospital mana2 pun sama an?)   but for me, personally it kind of priceless experience. sbb kat sini i meet my best friendssss (my Lone Ranger) *^^*
and kat sini jugak i learn how to control my anger.. (seriously) heh...
